Sugarcane is a tropical, perennial grass that forms lateral shoots at the base to produce multiple stems, typically three to four meters high and about 5 cm in diameter.
Sugarcane is cultivated in the tropics and subtropics in areas with a plentiful supply of water, sugarcane can be chewed to extract the juice can be used to make juice, sugarcane syrup, can be used as a sweetener among other uses.

Sugarcane juice is considered an alkaline forming food because of the high concentration of calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron and manganese in it.
